The best thing you can do is roll away from her frost barrage and sidestep her ice breath. You cannot prepare the battlefield very much with Moder because she will obliterate any wooden structures or trees in her way. If not, you should bring your best food and a stack of potions. ![]() If you have a friend that’s good at tanking, it’s time to call them up. Killing Moder is only a challenge because she deals so much damage. We still recommend using archery because the poison will be the most effective. When she lands, you should move to close or medium range and engage from there. Cone attacks are more dangerous at range and you will have better results sidestepping or rolling out of harm’s way if you’re closer to Moder. Moder opens wide and breathes a massive cone of ice. This means you can actually use her own attacks against her and loose arrows from behind a well-placed crystal. They leave large ice crystals behind that you can use as cover. Moder releases a barrage of icy missiles that explode on impact. You’re going to want to avoid taking more than one of these attacks. Moder swipes with her claw or bites you, dealing tons of damage and delivering moderate knockback. Moder has three attacks, a basic attack, and two breath weapons: The stamina mead will help you stay topped off while you consume all your stamina shooting arrows. We recommend bringing a few meads in case you take a heavy hit. Obsidian arrows deal more damage against Moder, but fire arrows are easier to craft. Use fire arrows for the best results, Moder is vulnerable to fire damage. She deals tons of damage but takes a bunch herself. Just press E on the chopping block to summon Moder (you won’t have to chop any heads off). Her summoning ritual is slightly different because you can place all the items without summoning Moder. They’re the heaviest item in Valheim and you’ll want a few friends to help you carry them up the mountain. You will need to collect three dragon eggs to summon Moder. Her summoning altar is a large stone circle with three slots and an ominous chopping block. She is the only flying boss in the game and will rain ice on you from above. She is a giant ice dragon that you will fight on the top of a large mountain. High intensity blizzards may cause frame drops.Moder is the fourth boss in Valheim.These weather effects have no effect on gameplay. ![]() ![]() Precipitation in the mountains usually takes the form of snow of varying intensity. If it is raining in another biome, traveling into the Mountains will result in a lingering rain effect for a short period of time.The Deep North is a biome found far north of the map containing primarily mountains, though enemies or resources cannot be found there.The only type of tree that can grow in the Mountain enviroment is Fir.Cairns can be found on the peaks of the mountains.Onion seeds - Located in chests, usually in abandoned shacks.Obsidian - Obsidian nodes spawn in above ground on the mountain, which can be used to make Obsidian arrows.Silver veins requires an Iron pickaxe to mine. These veins can be located using a Wishbone, which is acquired by defeating Bonemass. Silver - Veins of Silver ore can be located buried beneath the snow of the mountains.This effect is also negated by nearby campfires. The Wolf armor legs do not offer frost resistance. This effect can be negated by drinking Frost resistance mead, wearing a Lox cape, wearing a Wolf fur cape, wearing a Fenris Coat, or wearing the Wolf armor chest. Going into the mountain biome will cause the Freezing effect on the player. Crystals can be found growing naturally on the walls and occassionally contain a large underground lake, be careful not to wake the Stone Golem that can also be resting there. Bats also make their home here and can startle unsuspecting Vikings. Mountains can also contain Frost Caves, which are a dungeon home to Cultists and their pet Ulv. Beware shifting piles of stone, they might be more alive than you think, stirring the resting Stone Golem. Drakes, the offspring of Moder, can be found in the skies making their nests at its peaks where they lay their Dragon eggs. This frozen and unforgiving region is home to Wolves and others sons of Fenrir. The Mountain is a biome which features frozen snow covered peaks framed with Fir trees.
